Thinking Outside the Book - Safety in the Workplace            

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss current approach to safety
  • Know difference between a leading and a lagging safety indicator and give an example of each
  • Understand what a JHA/JSA is and how to do one
  • List benefits of using a JHA/JSA
  • Know how personal responsibility plays a major role in a safe workplace

Description:  Participants will discuss where safety has come from, approaches and methods, performance results, current OSHA top Issues, and how to begin to think “outside the book.”  Attendees will learn about future prediction Indicators, trend analysis, conditions vs. behavior, the risk concept, and the layers of protection concept.  In addition, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) will be presented as well as how to taking the safety message to the shop floor.
